Minimum Requirements:

  • B Degree in Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current) or equivalent NQF level 7
  • ECSA registered
  • Code B driver's licence
  • Extensive experience in Municipal Electrical Distribution Network and Metering
  • 5 years’ experience in similar environment

 

Core Responsibilities:

  • Manage the electricity meter installation and meter maintenance processes performed in all Depots
  • Plan, monitor and manage projects within the Project Management sub-section
  • Provide overall direction for management of the Metering and Electrical Installation section
  • Develop and manage processes that ensure Energy Department revenue stream is optimized
  • Manage installation and maintenance of prepayment meters, conventional meters and AMR metering in the Depots
  • Manage Capital and Operational Budgets of Metering and Electrical installation section
  • Manage revenue-based capital budget allocations made to the metering and electrical installations section
  • Manage and provide strategic direction to develop, drive, implement and monitor effectiveness of customer education activities, campaigns and community projects
  • Ensure that all electrical installations connected to the municipal grid complies with electrical regulations and by-laws
  • Ensure that projects are managed in accordance with best practice methodologies and in line with policies and procedures
  • Lead and manage direct and indirect teams by providing a meaningful context, setting performance standards and educating on policies and processes
  • Execute Governance and Risk Management, Council policies and municipal by-laws to ensure effective revenue protection and legal compliance
  • Comply with legislation and organisational policy to effectively contribute towards meeting organisational objectives
  • Ensure compliance with the Batho Pele principles, maintain good customer relations and efficient and productive service delivery
  • Provide effective and efficient management to maintain a high level of productivity

  • Undertake the integrated institutional Disaster Management arrangements to support and contribute to the Municipal Disaster Management Framework to effect the statutory requirements.
  • Undertake Disaster Risk Assessment to support the Disaster Risk Reduction
  • Undertake Disaster Risk Reduction initiatives to support the institutions, communities and individuals “at risk” within the Municipal Disaster Management Framework and Municipal Safety at Sports and Recreational Events policy.
